The latest platform supply vessel supervised by our newbuilding team has successfully completed her sea trials, the final major milestone before delivery to her owner.

From steel-cutting to sea trials

Our site team was present at the shipyard from steel-cutting through to delivery. Throughout construction they monitored workmanship and quality, witnessed inspections and tests with the classification society, and kept the owner informed with regular progress reports.

Issues were raised and closed with the yard as the build progressed, rather than left for the end — an approach that protects both the schedule and the quality of the finished vessel.

What was tested

During sea trials the vessel’s performance is verified against the building specification and contract. The programme included:

  • Speed and fuel consumption trials
  • Manoeuvring, turning circle and crash-stop tests
  • Dynamic positioning system trials
  • Endurance runs of main and auxiliary machinery
  • Checks of navigation, communication and safety equipment

Next steps

Following the trials, the remaining items are being completed ahead of delivery and handover. Our team will support the owner with documentation, the first crewing of the vessel and her entry into service.
